We are seeking a highly proficient Project Manager to serve as an integral part of an innovative, close-knit product development group creating our next-generation Raman, spectroscopy and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) solutions. As a company, we work with leading researchers developing new scientific techniques to revolutionize healthcare, security, food security, materials development & processing, and environmental monitoring. As a Project Manager with us, you will help Wasatch Photonics deliver quality work on time, within budget, and to each client’s satisfaction. Wasatch Photonics has long been known for its superior opto-mechanical designs for spectroscopy and OCT, drawing upon our own high efficiency holographic gratings. In this role, you will be responsible for working with a team of cross-functional engineers to leverage this core competency for internal spectrometer development and external customer design projects with key deliverables in optics, mechanics, electronics and software.

Location: The position is located in Morrisville, North Carolina (Raleigh/Durham’s Research Triangle Park). Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.

Primary Job Responsibilities
- Work with Engineering management to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects. On Time Delivery (OTD) and On Budget Delivery (OBD) are key metrics for success in this role.
- Project manage multiple simultaneous projects with both internal and external customers.
- Actively manage project scope, schedule and budget. Serve as the primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budgets and scope of work to completion and to the client’s satisfaction.
- Implement Wasatch Photonics project delivery plan in line with our ISO 9001:2015 protocols.
- In conjunction with senior management, develop the project scope and fee quotation, and assist in the preparation of proposals and contracts.
- Oversee project staffing with the different departments and business units.
- Coordinate work efforts and review of work performed by local and remote project team members.
- Schedule and lead regular status calls and videoconferences with distributed team membership to synchronize goals and update status across the organization.
- Keep a sense of humor and positive perspective that transcends setbacks.
Additional Responsibilities
- Active participation in engineering leadership.

- Assign priorities and staff to projects.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations.
- Internal revenue and profit forecasting based upon milestone completions.
- Contribute to other aspects of company development as needed
Required Experience/Skills
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience and a strong track record for OTD and OBD.
- Experience gained in instrumentation / system development is advantageous but not essential.
- Prince2 or other industry recognized project management training is desirable
- Capable of supervisory capacity for planning, organizing, communicating and personnel management skills.
- Good communication skills, written and oral.
Education
- B.Sc. degree in an Engineering or equivalent discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification in a relevant area of expertise (e.g. Business Administration, project management) would be advantageous.
