– Wasatch Photonics introduces compact, lightweight OCT spectrometer for integration into OEM imaging systems –
MORRISVILLE, N.C. – March 4, 2022 – Wasatch Photonics has expanded its Cobra OCT spectrometer product line with a new OCT spectrometer designed specifically for ease of integration by OEMs into OCT imaging systems. The Cobra OEM is a small size and low weight spectrometer optimized for 800 nm spectral domain OCT (SD-OCT) imaging, and is based on a configurable optomechanical bench engineered for volume manufacturing. It builds on the company’s existing line of Cobra OCT spectrometers, expanding their application in turnkey systems for ophthalmology and eye surgery, materials processing and laser welding, and industrial inspection of surface topology and microelectronics packaging.

“We developed the Cobra OEM OCT spectrometer in direct response to a need from our industrial OCT customers for a very compact, drop-in OCT spectrometer that would allow them to capture high quality images without adding undue size or weight to their systems,” says Dr. David Creasey, CEO. “High efficiency compact optical spectrometer design is one of our core compentencies, and when paired with our industry-leading, patented OCT gratings, we were able to create a spectrometer for SD-OCT that delivers low roll-off — comparable to a research-grade spectrometer but in a much smaller footprint, and highly manufacturable in volume.”
