Compact spectroscopy continues to conquer ever more challenging applications. In the May 2018 issue of The Analytical Scientist, Wasatch Photonics’ Cicely Rathmell and Dr. David Creasey review the history and development of hand-held spectrometers in relation to their larger and more expensive benchtop equivalents. In addition to the cost savings, these newer spectrometers can easily be transported to applications in the field instead of just in the lab.
