The Quality Engineer will play an integral role in the design, manufacturing, and validation of our Raman spectroscopy and OCT spectrometer products. As such, they will develop an intimate knowledge of the optoelectronic systems we manufacture, including their build standards, performance requirements, test methods, and failure modes. They will design processes that can grow with our company. Most importantly, he or she will incorporate quality and customer-focus throughout the entire process.
Location: This position is based in Morrisville, NC (Research Triangle Park)
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Lead effort to identify, determine, and communicate product requirements that meet customer needs
- Use traditional risk analysis tools such as process failure modes and effects analysis to identify and control risk
- Continuously improve quality process and procedures
- Provide quality and design-for-manufacturing inputs to product development team
- Assure product and process quality by:
- designing testing methods
- testing finished- product and process capabilities
- establishing standards
- confirming manufacturing processes
- Develop processes and tools for product validation
- Transition processes and tools from validation to in-process testing in volume manufacturing
- Use traditional problem-solving tools such as pareto analysis, 5-why, and cause and effect diagrams to conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive action
- Evaluate customer-returned product to determine cause of nonconformances and communicate results and corrective action to the customer
- Collect, analyze, and present quality data using statistical methods for the purpose of identifying trends, solving problems, and validating corrective actions
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or other closely related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a quality role
- Experience with optical systems
- Experience with electronics systems and/or sensors
