Digital Marketing & Events Specialist

Wasatch Photonics is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Digital Marketing & Events Specialist to join our team. This role will support execution of digital marketing campaigns, lead generation activities, and manage our social media presence, as well handling all logistics for trade shows to enhance brand awareness and engagement. The ideal candidate has a strong background in marketing, event planning, and content deployment, along with a passion for driving business growth through innovative digital strategies and events.

This role works closely with the VP of Marketing, Creative Lead, and CEO to develop and execute the company’s marketing plan across three business units, with a strong focus on lead generation. This role is perfect for a tech-savvy marketer with an interest in science who is passionate about disseminating content through the many communications vehicles marketing affords.

Location: Morrisville, NC (Raleigh-Durham area). Occasional domestic travel may be required.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Campaigns: Work with the Creative Lead to plan and execute digital marketing campaigns (social media, SEM, email marketing, etc.) to promote new products, technical content, and applications, in alignment with business goals.
  • Content Adaptation & Deployment: Work closely with technical & marketing staff to adapt new information and content into compelling blog posts, white papers, social media posts, videos, infographics, press releases, product sheets, and other digital assets to drive engagement and enhance brand visibility.
  • Social Media Marketing: Manage and grow our social media accounts (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook). Create engaging content, schedule posts, and interact with followers, ensuring consistent and engaging messaging that aligns with the brand’s voice and goals.
  • Email Marketing: Co-develop and execute email marketing campaigns, including newsletters, product releases, and lead-nurturing campaigns.
  • Website Maintenance: Work with marketing staff to update website content, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure SEO best practices to enhance user experience and engagement.
  • SEM: Manage paid search advertising campaigns (Google Ads, LinkedIn ads, etc.) to drive traffic and conversions.
  • Event Planning & Coordination: Manage all aspects of trade show logistics, including booth demos, travel arrangements, shipping, and promotional materials (giveaways & print materials).
  • Lead Tracking: Log, categorize, and process personal data for new leads acquired via the website, paid advertising, and trade shows. Report on lead generation; format and upload all new opt-in contacts to the newsletter list.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Monitor and analyze digital marketing performance using tools like Google Analytics, social media insights, and other tracking software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (2+ years) as a Digital Marketing Specialist or similar role with a solid understanding of SEO, SEM, social media, and email marketing best practices.
  • Proficient with digital marketing tools and platforms (Google Analytics – particularly GA4, Google Ads, Mailchimp, social media management tools, HubSpot, etc.).
  • Experience with content management systems (WordPress and Elementor in particular).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create and adapt compelling content for a variety of digital platforms.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to innovate and think outside the box.
  • Strong organizational skills, both when working independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with consistent attention to detail and deadlines.
  • A genuine interest in science and the applications of photonics. Strong listener who is naturally curious and has a track record of continuous learning.
